You can engrave a bright image in front of a "faded" background pattern on anodized metal items. This effect is achieved by lasing the background graphics at a very light power setting. It will likely take a bit of experimenting to find the right power setting for your machine, but start off around 50% speed and 20% power. Make sure you take off any ribbons or rings so the piece can lay flat in the bed for these types of subtle engravings to turn out their best!
