We have a customer interested in using one of the large plaques for a covered porch sign. What would you recommend for her and what should she seal it with? Or is this not recommended at all?
Thanks

We do not recommend using any of our plaques outdoors, and can make no guarantees as to the product life in that environment.
However, if the customer would like to try it, best results would likely be obtained by applying a marine type varnish (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=marine+varnish#q=marine+varnish&hl=en&prmd=ivns&source=univ&tbm=shop&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=gLotToSRO6OqsAKrtY2uCw&ved=0CG0QrQQ&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=1fbafa1d9db86de3&biw=1218&bih=735) and making attempts to shield from direct exposure to moisture.

We tried it last week and are in the process of putting 3 or 4 coats of the marine varnish. We will let you know next year how it holds up in the weather! :)45

How did you color this plaque?

After engraving, we painted the letters and logo of the plaque instead of using the shoe polish to help it 'pop' a little more. Then we covered it in the marine varnish for protection. That was done 2 years ago and it still looks like new even with extreme weather conditions.
